New Years Eve

Our HOTT Crew friend Dodie says that when evening temps are in the single digits (it's 7F right now at 7:30pm) it's martini weather because one can walk around outside with a martini and it stay bone-chilling cold. And our last hottie of 2017 is perfectly dressed for "martini weather" with the upturned collar on his winter coat and the fashionable and well-draped muffler (scarf) around his neck. His thermal boots are also a nice nod to the arctic chill pervading our fair city.

Whether you're outside enjoying the festivities or inside watching Anderson Cooper on TV freezing his tutu at Times Square we wish you a wonderful 2017 and look forward to bringing you many more hotties in 2018!

The Hottie Wore Bunny Fur

What do handsome men wear when the temperature is 0F (-18C for readers in our Dominions Beyond the Seas)? They pull out their bunny fur headgear (aka Dear Stalker Hat) and warmest winter parka with fur-trimmed hood. Note our hottie's stylish footwear that's incredibly appropriate for walking on ice-covered sidewalks or business meetings in the conference room! What a stylish and warm fellow!
And yes, it really was 0F at HOTT Headquarters this morning!

Strings Attached

A picture is worth a thousand words, and this picture comes not just with words but with the warm tropical sounds of Hawaii! Our cute fellow plays the ukulele for all of his traveling companions and helped create a festive and fun atmosphere on our train while the temperature above was only 3F.

Well done, Ukulele Boy!

Freeze Frame

It's cold outside, and getting colder! But this fine looking man gave our hearts a little warmth as we boarded a chilled train on our way to work. And he was one of the few men aboard he didn't have his entire face covered to protect from the cold.

Let's hope the T keeps working as temps begin to go below zero!

Thunder Snow and Swimming Pools!

This handsome guy is all bundled up for bone chilling cold. Even his cheeks are rosy red from the deep chill in the air. From top to bottom he's a model of winter fashion and preparedness.

Meanwhile, while our dear readers in Boston are freezing their behinds off in Thunder Snow and copious amounts of ice...
...our HOTT Crew has been having breakfast al fresco at our dear friend Dodie's lakefront home in Orlando, Florida. Right now it's 72F lakeside here while our weather station in Cambridge reports of a temperature of only 21F. You POOR things!

Wool

Our HOTT Crew endured a long and arduous trip in yesterday's ice storm as we winged our way to warm, sunny Florida to spend Christmas with our HOTT Crew's friend Dodie. On our way to the airport we encountered this fabulous furry fellow magnificently attired in a violet cashmere sweater with matching violet wristwatch armband. It's the perfect color for the last days of Advent! Yes, dear readers, the 12 Days of Christmas don't begin until TOMORROW! And not only is our handsome man dressed for this pre-Christmas season he's also reading the suspense-filled, post apocalyptic thriller "Wool"! The violet clothes and the deep oranges of the book cover give a marvelous shoutout to the hit colors of the 70's! Speaking of the 1970's...
Our friend Dodie is hosting her annual Lake Cherokee Christmas Gala in Orlando, and the theme for the gala is "Let's Party Like It's 1978!". Women are requested to dress a la Rosalyn Carter and Joan Mondale in 1978, while the men (that's us!) get to dress in elegant tuxedos!
Above FT (left) and GB (right) relax in the den just prior to finishing dressing for the gala.

We're so sorry to hear that you have Winter Storm Warnings posted for Christmas Day while we'll be dining and dancing outside in the warm tropical breezes.

Casual Christmas

This hottie's not perturbed at all about the impending Christmas holiday. No rush on his part. He's content to just lean back in an alluring pose as he awaits a train to whisk him away from the holiday rush above. We must say that the Government Center station is a good place to catch men in poses!

Pink Ginger

A sea of festive color and pure ginger beauty greeted us this wintry morn' as we stepped aboard our train. And who knew a ginger-haired hottie would look so attractive in a pink shirt! And then there's the muffler (that's Southern for scarf) with a delightful array of earth-toned hues that add complexity and depth to our stunning gentleman.

Mr Sleepy

We had an early start this morning and found this sleepy-time fellow aboard our train. The quintessential New England winter garment, a black North Face jacket, accentuates or gentleman's handsome face and earth-toned toboggan. We hope someone waked him for his stop!

Sprite

No silly, not the beverage! We mean the elfin-type of sprite, which this fellow reminded us of with the jaunty positioning of his toboggan (that's Southern for ski-cap). It's a positioning designed so that one's coiffed bangs can not only be seen, but also prevents them from being mussed-up. It's quite the holiday look!

The Glory Boy

It's the holiday season and that means handsome young men in Santa suits! We especially like the way this hottie interprets Santa for a New England audience. Just look at the boots that are nonchalantly untied. The plaid flannel shirt. A pine-green fleece vest. And the cap, paired with a dangling beard, spell one thing: Adorable!

Why are we suddenly daydreaming about being in a secluded cabin in Vermont waiting for a visit from "New England Santa"?

City Under the Sea

It was a sea of men on our way to work this morning! And this particular man fascinated us with that stylish, yet reserved and focused look. Of course, we swoon whenever we see a man in a red jacket. And this man had a treasure trove of fashion going on underneath the jacket! Let's see, there was a luxurious shawl-collar gray fleece (perfect pairing with a red jacket), and under that was a subtle, yet unmistakable madras plaid shirt. What style! And in the depths of winter no less.

Watching him and observing his fabulous layering reminded us of those classic librarian scenes where the buttoned-up reserved librarian suddenly takes off her glasses and lets her hair fall aggressively out of it's bun.

Ride the Wild Surf

Sometimes travel on the Green Line can be a bit like being caught in the wild surf at the beach. Being tossed about, tossed around, and jostled all over. Yet this handsome fellow shows that he's the master of the wild surf. Cool, calm, and collected, he deftly communicates with others whilst standing unsupported on our train as it hurtles beneath our fair city.

Nice Pea Coat, too!

The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean

We've been hearing so much news overnight about the spectacular defeat of Judge Roy Moore that we now have stuck in our heads the film title The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean. We're not going to complain, though, because the results of the Alabama Senate election are a sweet sweet victory. And we spotted this fine looking fellow above whilst we were on our way home to watch the election results. A man of inspiration on a gloomy day, and a harbinger of the good news we were to learn just a few hours later.

We're not quite sure why but this handsome gentleman had our thoughts turning towards pirates and hidden treasures. And adventure on the T became an adventure on the high seas. The Loved One

A handsome fellow in gray is a standout fellow with a black and white background. Clearly he's a man dear to other people's hearts. And he's a sharing fellow, too!

Speaking of loved ones, in Boston we are digesting the news that Fenway Health's CEO has suddenly resigned after it became known that he was covering up sexual harassment and bullying by a senior physician against Fenway Health employees. We just want to make sure we are clear on our thoughts about this:

1). This was not "inadvertent" on Fenway Health's part. It was deliberate.
2). We support organizations that speak truth to power, not those that use power to cover up the truth.
3). We support organizations that serve the marginalized, not those that marginalize people.

At this time of year-end giving we encourage you to be thoughtful and strategic about where you direct your assets.

The Last Chance

It's snowing at a brisk pace, 6" has accumulated at our HOTT Headquarters at Harvard Square as of 8pm, and that means the Red Line is at risk of shutting down. It's this handsome gentleman's last chance to "get outta Dodge"! Whether or not he makes it home, we're certain he'll keep warm with his delicious facial hair, wool Pea Coat, and snow-resistant boots. What a fine form!

Periodically we receive comments that we don't give the Blue Line enough coverage. It's a fair point to make, but we rarely find a need to ride the Blue Line unless we need to ride our bikes to the other side of Boston Harbor. So we only get Blue Line gents during the warmer months.

But....

Our HOTT Crew is a fan of tiny houses and we stumbled across this unique take on how to make use of a discarded Blue Line train. We think if we perched one of these atop our HOTT Crew penthouse in Harvard Square it would make a handy guest apartment for when our HOTT Crew friend Dodie comes to visit!

The Pleasure of His Company

It was a pleasure to be aboard a train with this adorable fellow. We admired the effortless style that he perfected: a shawl-collar seater, over which was a houndstooth tweed jacked (notice the Earl Grantham'esque belt in the back), slim-fit jeans and Topsiders (sans socks!). It's a wonderful nod to Boston academia.

Clash of the Titans

Red is a very popular color this season. It's a high-visibility color for winter (especially during snowstorms) and it's also a color that accentuates one's good looks and makes one stand out from the crowd.

So imagine our disappointment when, along with this handsome fellow in bright red jacket we wound up on what's become known as the Pepto Bismol Train (designed by Education First). It's a jarring and unsettling color for a train interior, and what makes it worse is that not only does it make one feel bad, it also makes one look bad.

If you're like our HOTT Crew this job recruitment effort by Education First only seems to highlight why you wouldn't want to work there!

Roses Are Red, My Love

We blame our HOTT Crew friend Dodie, a child of the 70s, for making a Bobby Vinton song get stuck in our head when we encountered this fine looking fellow in a brilliant red athletic-fit jacket. He's such a handsome lad, so tall and lean, so perfectly put together.

Double Feature

Sometimes our HOTT Crew spends partakes in a weekend double feature at the Brattle Theatre. It's close to home, a convenient activity for a gloomy/rainy/snowy day, and it's a lot of fun.

And sometimes on the T we encounter a double feature which, similar to its film counterpart, is close to home and a very convenient entertainment on our commute to or from work. Such as these two unseasonably dressed hotties above! Just look at the complimentary colors of their pants, similar shirts (one a T-shirt, the other a Henley) and what appears to be almost identical hairstyles (save for the jaunty baseball cap on the fellow on the right).

Clearly we know how to enjoy ourselves on the T, and are grateful for men such as these who provide the entertainment!

A Green Line experience reminded us of the theme song from the classic TV show Green Acres! Here we have a handsome fellow gloriously manspreading on his way to work. Golden-haired and autumnally-dressed our hottie provides a delight for those sitting in what we call the "club seats" on the Green Line trains.

Although we rarely accept submissions, we give credit to one of our loyal blog readers for this marvelous photo. It's a great pic, and is a great help to us as we get back in gear from our trip last week to Barcelona!

Man in the Moment

Our deliciously furry faced man is lost in the moment as he browses his iPhone for news, messages, or perhaps a multitude of other things. And he kept our mind off of the delay on the Red Line due to a stuck train at Park.

And while he's a Man in the Moment, we awoke this morning to discover that the Man OF the Moment is none other than...

Prince Harry! As Harry is one of our subjects in one of our Dominions Beyond the Seas we want to extend our congratulations (begrudgingly) and best wishes (half heartedly) to Harry and Meghan.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving sunrise over Gloucester Harbor

Our HOTT Crew is flung far and wide this year. But as on every Thanksgiving we share with you this reflection of ours.

Thanksgiving is a special time for everyone on the HOTT Crew. It arrives at a poignant time of year as the trees stand newly shorn of their leaves, the days have shrunk to what seems like a few hours of light between the two darknesses, and the chill in the air hints ominously of what's to come. And as the nation stops, we gather together just as a band of haggard Pilgrims in a new land once did... to offer their thanks to God.
