Fabulous Friday - D'un certain âge

A fabulous find on a fabulous Friday. A stunning gentleman d'un certain âge. That's a French phrase to describe someone who lives a life of style, elegance, discipline, simplicity and generosity. It's a phrase that describes a particular age range that's at it's prime (without the vulgarity of mentioning actual years). There's not an English equivalent. The closest we get to this elegant French description is the very inelegant American business term firing on all cylinders... a phrase we think is best applied to describing a Pan Am Stratocruiser as it wings its way across the Atlantic to Paris. Ah, Paris, city of light. Romantic strolls along the Seine. Savouring a Côtes du Rousillon on our balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower. A full moon illuminating the Pont de Neuf at midnight. Oh dear... we're getting carried away here!

Getting back to our hottie above (that was a lovely trip to Paris, wasn't it?) we can't help but notice two very contrasting, yet exquisitely complimentary elements of style. His hair has delightful highlights of gray that are accentuated by a groomed 5 O'Clock shadow, giving us hints that he's attained a certain age range. Yet looking at his shoes we see a wonderfully playful choice... sneakers. And not just any sneakers, stylish color coordinated sneakers that hint at a younger age range. In-between we find a style of eyewear that gives us more clues to his personality (serious, intellectual) and a fitted buttoned-down pinstripe Oxford shirt. We imagine our hottie is successful in the workplace and an absolute delight after hours. And his age? Who cares! He's d'un certain âge!

P.S. On August 19 - OK, so we were kind of close with our hottie's occupation. Non-profit, sort of IT'ish. And a delightful gentleman!
