3rd Sunday of Advent - Thinking Pink

If you're about to don a stunning radiant orchid color bow tie with clever snowflake patterns to wear to church this morning STOP EVERYTHING! Today is Gaudete Sunday, and despite the fact that radiant orchid/violet/purple is the color of this Advent season, today, as our hottie above shows us, we wear pink! A glorious pink that pairs so well with the dusky sandy colors of khaki pants. A subtle pink that softens the deep and rich tones of of a forest green. A brilliantly light pink that accentuates one's skin tones. A pink that illuminates the dark and gray of our winter world. To paraphrase one who knows about the season of Advent and the importance of our outward signs of color selection on this particular Sunday:

Pink is the color of looking forward despite not knowing exactly what's ahead. Pink is the color you saw this morning if you happened to be up and looking east from a beach in Ft. Lauderdale at about 7:00am. Pink is the assurance that darkness is temporary and illusory and that God's light is our eternal home.

We hope to see you all wearing pink!
